Oven Roasted Figs with Ricotta and Honey

1 kg (2 lb 4 oz) fresh figs
50 g (1. oz) unsalted butter
250 g (9 oz) fresh ricotta
Greek honey
pistachios or crushed walnuts

Prepare the figs by trimming the stems and cutting a cross into the figs but not all the way across the bottom. In a baking dish, melt the butter and place the figs cut side up. Roast for about 10–15 minutes.

Remove from the tray and place onto a platter. Place a heaped tablespoon of ricotta into the top of the figs where you have cut. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with some cinnamon and pistachios or crushed walnuts, whichever you prefer.

Serve immediately.

  1. Hi Mary, fabulous site – can just taste the flavours. When do we sail for Greece – wouldn’t miss it for the world.
